Fun Info from Uncle Cody

So my younger brother, Cody, has taken it upon himself to be the fun uncle that teaches our boys useless info.  Here is a video of a few of things Uncle Cody has taught Levi & Luke.

Spring Break Fun

When I taught school, I (even more so than my students) counted down to the days of spring break.  I was convinced every year that I desperately needed that week off.  Now, as a stay at home mom spring break is just like every other week, except our favorite spots to play are more crowded.  However, this year dad took a couple days off to hang with the fam!
Our Brooks Family "spring break" consisted of a park picnic, lots of playing outside (can we say 80's in Houston!!), finger paints, and a trip to the Downtown Aquarium.  Here are a few pictures from our break.

My child that does not prefer to be messy has apparently become quite comfortable with the finger paints.

Luke decided that painting on paper was not the best medium for his artistic desire.

RODEO!!

Last week, we took the boys for their first experience with the rodeo (thanks Shannon for our tickets!!).  We made our way through the petting zoo, found baby pigs, calves, and sheep, and even got to go to a "farm."  The farm was by far my favorite part.  The boys fed (fake) chickens, collected eggs, planted seeds, milked a cow, and Levi even got to ride a tractor (questions about why Luke didn't ride the tractor should be directed to the horse riding adventure from a couple of weeks ago).

Mean Momma!

Oh the joys of motherhood.  Some days your kids absolutely love you, and other days their love is not as visible! 

This morning, Luke and I were having quite a disagreement.  He decided he did not need to eat his grape flavored Flinstone vitamin with his breakfast, while I was quite insistent that he must eat it.  About the time I finally convinced him to get it in his mouth, Jonathan was headed out the door for work.  As he was walking out the door, Luke looked at me and said "Mommy, work?" 

In his great frustration with me, he really wanted to send me out the door this morning.  I reminded him that Mommy's work was at home with her boys, but this morning I really think he would have prefered that this was not the case. 

Sweet boys, God has called me to a few very important jobs.  First and foremost, to be a disciple of Christ.  Second, to serve along side your Daddy as his helpmate.  Third, I get to be your Mom.  This means there are days you're not going to like me, but know that my goal (even in eating the vitamin you don't think you need) is that your heart would be softened to love Jesus with all your all.

Yee-haw!!

Well it's Rodeo time here in Houston, and while no one in this house actually owns any Wranglers or even real cowboy boots it is still a fun time. Over the weekend we joined some friends in celebrating their son's 3rd birthday at a wildlife park. The boys had a great time feeding the ostriches, camels,and zebras, but I wanted to share my little "cowboys" with you. One of the options at the park was a pony ride. Now this was no small sweet pony, but more like a small horse.  Oh, how I the differences in our boys!!

So if it's up to him, Luke will stick to petting rather than riding.
